This article originally appeared in The City.  By Reuven Blau Bronx Voice November 22, 2025 NYC LOCAL NEWS - Edwin Ramos was hours away from freedom.  Ramos, 38, was set to plead guilty to an attempted burglary charge at a hearing in Brooklyn court Friday morning. The judge was then expected to release him from Rikers Island into some type of program, according to a source familiar with his case.  He died a few hours before that, after experiencing what appeared to be a seizure inside a shower, the city Department of Correction said in a press release.  “Just days ago, Mr. Ramos spoke with family and showed no signs of distress,” Legal Aid Society, which was handling his defense, said in a statement. “This morning, he was ...

BRONX - The NYPD has released new video of a man wanted for a carjacking in the Zerega section of the Bronx last month. 



At around 7 pm on January 18, a man was sitting in his car in the vicinity of Waterbury Avenue and Zerega Avenue when two men approached. Cops said one of the men pulled out a handgun and ordered the driver out of the vehicle. The driver got out and the carjackers hopped into the car. Cops said the car thieves drove off on Seabury Avenue with the victim’s property in the car. 


No injuries were reported.

Following an investigation, police released surveillance video of one of the suspects seen entering a local grocery store. He is described as a male with a medium complexion. He is 5 foot 10 and 200 pounds. He was last seen wearing green pants, a black jacket, a white hooded sweater, and black sneakers. 



No description of the second suspect has been provided.
