Second Victim to Get Head Bashed in During Separate Random Attacks in NYC on Same Day

BRONX - A Bronx man is recovering after being bashed in the head with a baseball bat in an unprovoked attack, cops said.




Police released surveillance video of the suspect walking up and down the block wielding a baseball bat prior to the attack.


 

At around 3 pm on July 6, a 37-year-old man was walking in the vicinity of Aqueduct Avenue and West 183 Street in University Heights.


Cops said the man with the baseball bat walked up to the victim and struck him in the head again and again with the Louisville Slugger.





In the video the suspect is seen walking up and down the block looking back and forth. The video then jumps and the next scene shows the suspect washing out a rag.


The victim was rushed by EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital. Cops said he is serious but stable condition.


 

The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a white tank top, black shorts, a black baseball cap and black and white sneakers. 


The Bronx bat attack is the second random attack on the same day in NYC. In an unrelated attack, an older woman had her head bashed in with a rock in a random attack in Manhattan.





At around 9 am on July 6, a 67-year-old woman was walking in the vicinity of 7th Avenue and West 14th Street in Greenwich Village.


Cops said a man walked up to her and without warning smashed her in the head with a rock.


Cops said, as the woman lay on the ground stunned, the suspect was seen fleeing on foot westbound on West 15th Street heading towards 8th Avenue. 


The victim was transported to an area hospital where she was treated for the injury to her head. Police did not release an update on her condition. Developing…


Cops describe the suspect as a male with a light complexion, medium build, long dark hair and a dark beard. 


The suspect is believed to be six foot 2 in height. He was last seen wearing dark pants and  a green t shirt.
