BRONX - Cops have arrested a man in the brutal fatal stabbing in Country Club during the early hours of July 4th.

Police announced the arrest of 21-year-old Joseph Gomez of Roberts Avenue. He was charged in the murder of 26-year-old Luis Cartagena.

Gomez was charged with murder, manslaughter, two counts of assault and criminal possession of a weapon.

At around 3 am on July 4, police responded to a call of two men fighting. Police arrived at the scene and found Cartagena lying in front of 3286 Radio Drive.

The victim was found with multiple stab wounds throughout his torso.

EMS rushed the victim to nearby NYC Health & Hospitals/Jacobi where he was pronounced dead.

Cops are investigating the possibility that the fatal stabbing stemmed from a heated argument.

Country Club has long been an oasis from Bronx violence. For decades the well off and politically connected bought large expensive houses in the tree lined community. Today multiple homes listed for sale have prices of over 1 million dollars.
