Killer had his Daughters Walk Past their Mom’s Dead Body After he Shot Her   File Photo Bronx Voice  November 21, 2025 BRONX LOCAL NEWS - A Bronx man will spend at least the next two decades behind bars after admitting he shot and killed his estranged girlfriend while their two young daughters were inside the apartment, prosecutors said. Bronx District Attorney Darcel D. Clark announced that 50-year-old Lacon Brown was sentenced to 20 years to life in prison for second-degree murder. Clark didn’t mince words about the impact of the crime, saying Brown “took their mother away and traumatized these girls,” and that she hopes his long sentence brings the children some measure of solace. Brown pleaded guilty in September to killing Cindy Maxwell, 45, during a violent attack inside her Allerton apartment on August 23, 2023. BRONX - A man selling candy on the subway repeatedly punched a teenager in the face on a train near Yankee Stadium. Cops believe the attack took place after the candy seller thought the teen was recording him with his cell phone.

At around 4 pm on March 19, a man selling candy was on a northbound D train at the River Avenue and East 161 Street subway station. Cops say the candy man began arguing with an 18-year-old when the teen would not move out of his way as the seller made his way through the subway car.

When the teen took out his cell phone, the candy man snatched it out of his hands and threw it at the other end of the subway car. Investigators say the vendor may have thought the teen was trying to record him with his phone.

The candy man then repeatedly punched the teen in the face with a closed fist. He then fled the subway car and ran out of the station.

The victim suffered a cut to his lip and a bump on his head but refused medical attention at the scene.

The victim recovered his cell phone at the scene.

Cops did manage to snag a photo of the candy man. He is described as a man in his 30s with a medium build and long black hair in a bun. He was seen wearing a black leather jacket, black hoodie sweatshirt with white lettering in front, black face mask and carrying a purple book bag.
