BRONX - A woman was mugged by a purse snatcher across from the home of horror master Edgar Allan Poe.

At around 11 am on January 6, a 26-year-old woman was in front of 229 Kingsbridge, across the street from the landmarked Edgar Allan Poe cottage. A man walked up behind and yanked her purse from her arm. The purse opened and $1,850 in cash spilled to the ground.

The purse snatcher then scooped up the money when the victim tried to stop him. The attacker pushed the woman to the ground and ran off with the cash.

EMS arrived on the scene and treated the victim for minor lacerations to her knees.

The suspect is described as a man with a thin build and a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, black and red sneakers, a black hood sweatshirt and a red and white hooded jacket.
