BRONX - A smoke shop worker was viciously slashed across the face by a slipper-wearing customer in the Bronx. Police released the dramatic video of the attack in the hopes of finding the slasher.

Officers from the 46th Precinct were called to a smoke shop at 2081 Jerome Avenue in the University Heights section of the Bronx for a report of an assault. A subsequent investigation revealed that a store employee was attacked by a customer.

Surveillance cameras were rolling on October 16, when the suspect entered the smoke shop at around 11:30 am. A 42-year-old store employee had gotten into a verbal dispute with the unidentified suspect. The argument got heated and turned deadly as the employee came from behind the counter and confronted the suspect.

Cameras captured the moment as the customer lunged at the worker’s face with a sharp object in his hand. Cops say the employee’s face was slashed open in the attack. The suspect is then seen fleeing the store.

The employee was rushed by ambulance to NY Presbyterian Hospital – Allen Pavilion where he is listed in stable condition.

Investigators did not reveal the basis of the argument which put the worker in the hospital.

The suspect was last seen wearing a dark hoodie and black slippers with white socks.
