BRONX - Cops are looking for a man who carjacked a vehicle when he could not buy it with counterfeit cash in the Bronx.

Police are asking for the public’s help in tracking down the alleged carjacker who left a selfie behind.

At around 7:45 pm on June 30, a 25–year-old man met with a prospective car buyer near Crotona Park. The car owner went to Southern Boulevard and East 173rd Street with the intent to sell the other man his car.

When the “buyer” tried to purchase the car with what cops say was counterfeit cash, the owner refused. That is when things took a turn for the worse.

The buyer pulled out a gun and threatened the man. He hopped into the car and drove away.

But the story does not end there. Cops have a selfie of the carjacking suspect.

It is unclear if police obtained the photo from social media or if the suspect texted the car owner a selfie of himself in order for him to recognize him when they were to meet for the sale.

The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion who is approximately six feet tall. Cops said the man weighs around 200 pounds.

He was last seen wearing dark clothes. He took the selfie from a cell phone which had a red case.
