BRONX - A Bronx man went from shoplifter to armed robber when a clerk tried to stop him from stealing NyQuil. The thief pulled a gun on the worker to get away.

At around 11:40 am on March 12, a man was inside a bodega at 511 East 138th Street. When he approached the counter he asked the clerk for NyQuil and cigarettes. The customer then reached over the counter and removed $200 from the till. He also took his cold medicine and smokes and headed for the door without paying.

The worker ran to the door and locked it. Undeterred, the shoplifter pulled out a handgun from his waistband and ordered the worker to open the door. The employee complied and the robber left without incident.

Cops say he made off with the $200 in cash and merchandise, including the cold medicine, valued at $36.

The armed robber is described as a male approximately 5 foot 3 with a light complexion and medium build with black hair. He was last seen wearing a black baseball hat, a blue bubble jacket, gray pants and black sneakers.
