As the Sept. 4 application deadline looms, millions of dollars could be left on the table for the Summer Electronic Benefits Transfer, or EBT, program, which aims to help low-income families cover costs for meals usually provided at school. BRONX - A shootout with gasoline and bullets took place at a Bronx service station, cops revealed in new information. The victim, who is fighting for his life, sprayed his attacker with gas when the gunman tried to rob him. 




Police released surveillance video which showed the masked gunman drive up to the service station in a white Mercedes at around 12:45 am this morning. A 51-year-old man was pumping gas for his white Land Rover at the Gulf Gas Station at 1805 Webster Avenue. 





The video shows the Mercedes pull up to the pump next to the victim and the masked robber exits the car. He walks over to the victim and tries to rip the chain from the victim’s neck while pointing a gun at him.

Cops say the victim sprayed the robber with gasoline. He responded by opening fire. One bullet struck the victim in the face. The gunman jumped back in his car and drove off.

The victim was rushed to St. Barnabas hospital where he is listed in critical but stable condition. 




The gunman is described as a male in his 30s with a dark complexion. He is 5 foot 11, 180 to 190 pounds with a thin build.
