BRONX - Five men forced a driver from his car and assaulted him to the point of unconsciousness on the streets of the Bronx during a robbery, the NYPD said.
Police released surveillance video of two of the main suspects in the violent assault - one of the suspects was seen smiling during the attack which knocked the victim out.
At around 6:40 pm on September 27, a 36-year-old man was on his cell phone inside his car when he became surrounded by five men in the vicinity of Olmstead Avenue and Westchester Avenue.

The NYPD says the men ordered the driver out of the car. Once on the street they pounced - punching the victim in the face repeatedly.
Cops said the victim was knocked unconscious in the Bronx assault. The attackers then rumaged through the victim’s pockets and removed property.
Investigators said in addition to being knocked out during the assault, the victim sustained multiple face fractures. He underwent surgery and is expected to recover.
The NYPD released surveillance video of two of the five suspects.
The first suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion and heavy build. He was last seen wearing a North face skull cap, a yellow and navy-blue plaid shirt, and blue jeans.
The second suspect is a male with a heavy build and dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a red sweatshirt and blue baseball cap.
