BRONX - Police have arrested a 15-year-old female and are searching for two others after an 11-year-old child was hit with a rock, chased for five blocks, punched and thrown to the ground and beaten and kicked—and one young girl kicked the child’s puppy and it was all captured on surveillance video.

A press conference was held at the corner of Waring Avenue and Holland Avenue after several violent incidents were reported and allegedly carried out by a group of teenage girls in the Allerton community.

A press conference was held at the corner of Waring Avenue and Holland Avenue after several violent incidents were reported and allegedly carried out by a group of teenage girls in the Allerton community.

According to the child’s mother Neliana Garcia, her daughter was out walking their dog “Leo” at 5:45 p.m. on September 22, when the child was attacked at the corner of Waring Avenue and Holland Avenue. In surveillance video obtained by the Bronx Voice, it shows one teen punching the child several times before grabbing the back of her jacket and throwing her to the sidewalk.

The same individual is then seen kicking Leo, who briefly goes airborne before scrambling to his feet and seeking refuge under a parked car. Another female is seen approaching the child, who is still on the ground, and begins punching her in the face several times before a woman jumps out of a passing vehicle and halts the attack.

At a press conference held on September 30, at the site of the attack, Bishop Boyde Singletary, the Senior Pastor of the Alpha Omega Church of Jesus Christ based in the South Bronx, said, “Thank God for the two Samaritans that came out and jumped out their car and stopped this from happening.”

Garcia, who was joined by a second mother who claimed her daughter had been beaten by this particular group of girls, pleaded, “I’m asking for justice for my daughter and the other girls.” She added, “Please don’t tell me that they are minors.”

Hours before the press conference the NYPD announced the arrest of an unnamed 15-year-old female who was charged with assault.

Singletary claimed, “This was not only a hate crime, this was a gang assault. The girl was repeatedly beaten.” He added that the 11-year-old suffered a seizure moments after the beating.

Sarah Velez claimed the same group of girls beat up her 17-year-old daughter outside of the CVS on Allerton Avenue on August 30 but failed to file a police report after an earlier incident with the same group of teens.

Minister Irene Estrada, a former 45-year resident of the Allerton community who is the Conservative candidate for mayor, said of the gang, “It shows you that there is a lack of discipline, parents need to take charge and make sure they know what their kids are up to.”

Singletary is in discussion with both the mayor’s office and the Office of the Bronx Borough President to get a safety transfer to relocate the family.

Garcia has established a GoFundMe page in hopes of relocating her family that has so far raised $1,145 of the $12,000 goal. That page can be found at: https://www,gofundme.com/f/37xbet-a-safe-home-for-my-11yearold-daughter.

A young woman and resident of the area was asked if she had heard about the gang of girls allegedly terrorizing the area, she replied, “Oh yeah, I saw the video.” Asked if she feels safe in the area, she replied, “No comment.”

As of October 6, the NYPD was still looking to apprehend the two additional suspects.
