EMS transported Vatran to Jacobi Medical Center where was pronounced deceased.
NYPD's Highway District Collision Investigation Squad determined the crash was an accident and the victim had lost control.
Investigators said Vatran was operating a 2023 Jiaju gas-powered moped eastbound on Southern Boulevard. He failed to navigate a curve in the roadway and lost control. The moped slammed into a concrete barrier on the south side of the roadway. The impact caused Vatran to be ejected from the moped and crash to the pavement.
No arrests have been made and the Highway Squad is still investigating.
