BRONX - A faulty power strip has been found to be the official cause of the fire that killed three children and a Bronx father.

The FDNY released a tweet from the Fire Marshal who said the fire was “caused by a damaged power strip in the home.” This confirms a previous report that the fire originated from an “electrical malfunction” in a room where a computer was plugged in. The computer chord was found to be melted.

On October 30th, fire broke out at 2165 Quimby Avenue in Castle Hill. The fire killed 22-year-Ahmed Saleh and his 10-month-old daughter Barah. Ahmed’s young brothers Mohamed Waleed Ahmed, 12, and Kalheed Waleed Ben Saleh, 10, also died from injuries as a result of the fire.
