2 Cops Struck by Car Chasing Robbery Suspect at Bronx Mall

BRONX - Two police officers and a robbery suspect were struck by a car as the officers were making an arrest at a Bronx mall.
At around 7:10 pm on October 13, officers from the 52nd Precinct were responding to a call of a robbery at the Target Mall on 40 West 225th Street in Marble Hill. When the officers arrived, they spotted 45-year-old Manny Tate who was fleeing the mall. The officers gave chase on foot.
The officers chased the suspect across West 225th Street and caught him. As they were trying to restrain Tate who was resisting, a 2012 Honda Civic plowed into the officers and Tate.
Gunmen Try to Steal Dog, Moped
The officers, ages 23 and 33, were to taken by EMS to St. Barnabas Hospital where they are listed in stable condition. Each officer sustained leg injuries.
Tate was taken to Jacobi Medical Center where he is listed in critical condition. He suffered body trauma and internal injuries.
Tate was subsequently taken into custody and was charged with robbery, two accounts of aggravated assault on a police officer, two counts of assault, two counts of reckless endangerment, petit larceny, resisting arrest, obstructing governmental administration and disorderly conduct.
The driver remained at the scene and was issued a summons for failure to use due care, resulting in the collision with the pedestrians.
No word on what the suspect is accused of stealing which led to the accident. Cops say the investigation is ongoing.
