NEW YORK - The Italian celebration of the harvest goes back centuries and Ferragosto is when farm laborers enjoy the fruits of their work. It is a time of reveling and enjoyment of family and food.
Arthur Ave. the Bronx ‘Little Italy’ has been marking this tradition for many years. This year’s event will take place on Sunday, Sept. 7th from noon to 6 pm. There will be street performers and traditional foods galore from the neighborhood shopkeepers of the Arthur Ave/Belmont section of the Bronx.
This year they will also be marking over 100 years of Arthur Ave. as an historic Italian enclave. “The real Little Italy,” they like to say. $10 parking fee. For more information visit: www.Bronxlittleitaly.com , or www.Ferragosto.com
