BRONX - A Queens man has been charged with bashing a Bronx straphanger in the head with a bottle inside a subway car, cops said.

Police arrested 43-year-old Ellis Landel of Far Rockaway, Queens and charged him with second degree assault. Cops arrested Landel in connection with an attack last month on a subway train in Mott Haven.

At around 9 am on August 13, a 57-year-old male was sitting on a southbound Number 5 train. Cops said a man just walked up to the straphanger and hit him upside the head with a glass bottle.

The attacker got off at the 138th Street and Grand Concourse Station and fled.

The victim sustained a cut to the head and was treated at the scene by EMS.

Police recovered surveillance video of the suspect from the subway station cameras.

It is still unclear what the motive was for the attack.
