BRONX - A teenage girl fought off a rapist in the previously quiet Pelham Bay Park last weekend, cops said.

At around 5 pm on a busy Saturday on May 18 in the park, a 15-year-old girl was walking on a path in Pelham Bay Park. Along the path the teen was approached by a man who engaged her in a conversation.

Suddenly the man threw the girl in a headlock and dragged her in a wooded area off the path. Cops said as he was trying to sexually assault her, the teen fought back and broke free. She managed to get away and ran out of the woods to find help.

The attacker then ran off in an unknown direction.

Cops said the victim suffered minor injuries but refused medical attention.

The victim was able to give a detailed description for the police to create a sketch.

The suspect is described as a male who is between the ages of 20 and 30. He has a medium complexion, slim build and mustache. He has curly eyelashes and bushy eyebrows. He was last seen wearing a green hooded sweatshirt and black sweatpants.
