BRONX - A man crossing the street outside Parkchester was fatally struck by two cars traveling in opposite directions, cops said. One of the drivers was charged with driving while intoxicated.

Police arrested 25-year-old Adam Vilajeti of Scarsdale and charged him with leaving the scene of an accident and driving while intoxicated. Cops said Vilajeti had a blood alcohol content of .08 of 1%.

At around 4 am on February 4, Wilbert de Jesus Cordero was crossing White Plains Road and Archer Street. Cops said Cordero was struck by a 2019 Mercedes Benz traveling south on White Plains Road. The impact threw the victim into the northbound lane of traffic where he was struck by a 2017 BMW.

EMS rushed Cordero to Jacobi Medical Center where he was ultimately pronounced dead.

Investigators said the first driver remained at the scene and was not charged.

Cops said Vilajeti was the second driver and took off after striking Cordero. Vilajeti returned to the scene a short time later and was arrested for driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an accident.

NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad is still investigating.
