BRONX - One mistake almost cost a Bronx man his life. The driver left his car double parked with the engine running behind what turned out to be a pair of carjackers who dragged him and pulled guns on him.

At around 3:10 pm on October 13, a 21-year-old man double parked his 2011 Honda Accord in front of 1164 Castle Hill Avenue. The driver left the car running as he ran into a store across the street. Unfortunately for the driver he happened to park behind a black SUV driven by a pair of carjackers.

As the Honda driver ran into the store, a man exited the SUV and slipped into the driver’s seat of the Honda. Seeing the man trying to drive off with his car, the driver ran back and fought with the thief inside the car. The carjacker threw the Honda into reverse and dragged the car’s owner a short distance.

Police are looking for this man in connection with a carjacking in the Bronx.

Seeing the scuffle, the thief’s accomplice reversed the SUV and parked in front of the Honda. He exited the SUV, casually walked over to the Honda and pulled a gun on the car’s owner, yanking him away from the car. The gunman hopped back in the SUV and then he and the stolen Honda drove off leaving the victim in the street.

The victim sustained minor injuries and complained of pain but refused medical attention at the scene.

Police released surveillance video of the carjacking in the hopes of catching the thieves.
