Nut Job Slashes Bronx Man’s Nose in Random Attack

BRONX, NY — The NYPD is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with a violent assault that occurred earlier this week in the Bronx’s 40th Precinct.


According to police, the incident happened Monday night, January 12, 2026, at approximately 10:29 p.m., near the intersection of East 149 Street and Union Avenue. Investigators say a 27-year-old man was walking in the area when an unknown individual approached him from behind and slashed him across the nose with a sharp object.



After the attack, the suspect fled the scene on foot, traveling southbound on Union Avenue, before police could arrive.


Victim Transported to Hospital in Stable Condition


Emergency Medical Services responded quickly and transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was treated and listed in stable condition, police said. No arrests have been made at this time.


Suspect Description Released by Police


The NYPD has released surveillance images and a description in hopes that someone may recognize the individual involved. The suspect is described as:


  • Male


  • Slim build


  • Dark complexion


  • Last seen wearing:


  • A navy-blue coat


  • Black pants


  • Black and white sneakers


Authorities believe the attack was targeted, though the motive remains under investigation.
