NYPD Seeks Help Identifying Suspect in Bronx Auto Repair Shop Assault After Vehicle Inspection Dispute


Bronx Man’s Car Failed Inspection, So He Ran Over the Mechanic - Cops Say

BRONX, NY  - The NYPD is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man wanted in connection with a serious assault that took place inside an auto repair shop in the Bronx, within the confines of the NYPD’s 47th Precinct.


According to police, the incident happened on October 30, 2025, at approximately 2:00 p.m., inside an auto repair shop located at 1611 East 233 Street. Investigators say a 51-year-old male victim became involved in a verbal dispute with an unidentified man over the inspection of a vehicle.


Dispute Over Vehicle Inspection Turns Violent


Police report that the argument centered around a gray Nissan Rogue bearing New York license plate KPY-6505. During the confrontation, the unidentified man allegedly became irate and escalated the dispute in a dangerous way.





Authorities say the suspect struck the victim with the vehicle before fleeing the scene. The direction of travel is currently unknown, and the individual remains at large.


Victim Hospitalized in Critical but Stable Condition


Emergency responders transported the injured man to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was treated for pain to his leg. Police say the victim is listed in critical but stable condition.


The NYPD has not released the victim’s name at this time.


The NYPD has released a detailed description of the suspect in hopes that someone from the public may recognize him. The individual sought is described as:

  • Male with a dark complexion


  • Approximately 25 to 35 years old


  • Thin build


  • Black, long braided hair


At the time of the incident, the suspect was last seen wearing:


  • A gray hooded sweatshirt


  • A tan jacket


  • Black pants


  • White and gray sneakers


Investigators released video of the suspect and the car.
