According to police, three separate incidents took place in September 2025, all involving victims who were approached by unknown individuals demanding their property. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in any of the cases, but in two of the incidents the victims were assaulted and had items stolen.
The first incident happened just before sunrise on September 9th, around 5:10 a.m., right in front of 2796 Sedgwick Avenue. A 21-year-old man told police he was approached by someone who demanded his belongings.
Trying to avoid confrontation, the victim tossed his keys to the ground — but the suspect ran off without taking anything. No injuries, and no property lost, but definitely a frightening moment.
Two weeks later, on September 25th at about 4:35 a.m., things escalated. A 34-year-old man was walking near Reservoir Avenue and West 197th Street when four individuals approached him.
Police say the group demanded his property, then began punching and kicking him. They ultimately took off with his iPhone, AirPods, and a North Face jacket before running north on Reservoir Avenue. Despite the assault, the victim didn’t suffer any reported injuries.
Just two days after that, on September 27th at 12:56 a.m., an 18-year-old man was targeted in front of Claflin Avenue. Two individuals approached, demanded his things, and then assaulted him in a similar way — punching and kicking him before taking his backpack, watch, and wallet. They fled on foot, and police weren’t able to immediately determine where they went.
