Celebrating Home Care Nurses on Nurses Week

Home Care Nurses:  The Beating Heart of Community Health  File Photo By Constance Washington, RN, Care Coordinator VNS Health Health Plans  Bronx Voice  May 5, 2025 NEW YORK - Many people might think that for nurses the workplace would be a hospital, clinic, or doctor’s office. But for the 180,000+ New York home care nurses who provide care to people at home, the “workplace” could be a basement apartment, a 30-floor high-rise, a house with a 2-car garage, a park bench, or just about anywhere someone actually lives. BRONX - Cops are looking for a trio of shoplifters who robbed a store in their underwear. The bandits caught the attention of witnesses and security cameras for not only wearing bras, slippers and shower caps but also threatening to taser a worker who confronted them.

The suspected shoplifters.

Cops said low-profile these suspects were not by walking down Fordham Road in only bras and sweats, slippers and shower caps. Investigators are hoping witnesses will recognize the young females not only for what they were wearing but also for carrying on outside the market indicating that they wanted to taser a worker at the store. All of which was caught on surveillance video.

At around 8:30 pm on August 21, three women entered Antillana Supermarket located at 124 West Fordham Road and took items. Then the trio tried to leave the store without paying for the $7 worth of food. A store manager tried to stop them and that’s when it got ugly.
