BRONX, NY — A routine eviction attempt led to a shocking discovery in Fordham, the Bronx, when officials uncovered an alleged marijuana grow house inside a Marion Avenue apartment building. Authorities discovered approximately 30 marijuana plants growing inside the apartment, prompting a response from city officials and the FDNY.

A city marshal discovered the suspected pot-growing operation while attempting to carry out an eviction at the Marion Avenue apartment building. The discovery raised concerns about a possible illegal marijuana operation inside the residential property.

Later, members of the FDNY returned to the building with hazardous materials trucks to remove large bags of marijuana, according to the report.

“The Sheriff's Office remains committed to protecting the safety and well-being of our communities by disrupting illicit operations that threaten public safety and health,” NYC Sheriff Edwin Raymond said in a statement. “We will work diligently to ensure our neighborhoods remain safe places to live and work.”

Fordham Residents Reported Marijuana Smell

Residents of the building said they had been complaining about the smell of marijuana coming from the apartment. They claimed that despite their complaints, nothing had been done to address the situation.

The discovery of the 30 marijuana plants in Fordham has raised questions about the suspected grow operation and the concerns previously reported by residents.

No Arrests Reported
