Suspect Charged in Sagamore Homicide

BRONX, NY - A Manhattan resident has offically been charged in connection with the shooting death of a man who was shot and killed at the corner of Sagamore Street and Birchall Avenue in the Bronx’ Little Yemen.
According to police, Trojan Hart, 50, of East 168 Street in the Morrisania section, was shot multiple times at just after 6 a.m. on August 3. Hart died, slumped over his moped during a rainstorm.
Detectives from the 49th Precinct arrested Jose Kuilan, 47, of Morningside Drive in Manhattan.
Kuilan was charged with murder, manslaughter, criminal possession of a weapon, criminal possession of a controlled substance and failure to use a signal light.
According to PIX 11 News, Kuilan turned without signaling and was pulled over on Eastchester Road several hours after the shooting. Citing an unnamed police source, officers observed marijuana in Kuilan's vehicle and he was arrested.
However, the Daily News reported that Kuilan's blue Toyota was stopped by officers at Hunt Avenue and Bronxdale Avenue, not far from the shooting scene.
It is not known how police connected Kuilan to Hart's killing.
