BRONX, NY - Police are investigating the shooting death of a still-unidentified man who died in a hail of gunfire after apparently crashing his moped.
According to police the shooting was reported at 6:02 a.m. on Monday, August 3, outside of 672 Sagamore Street. However, the victim ended up outside of Ramos Twin Auto Sales, located at 665 Sagamore Street at the corner of Birchall Avenue in the Little Yemen section of the borough.
An NYPD official stated, “Police responded to a 911 call of a male shot.” The official continued, “Upon arrival, officers observed a 50-year-old male with multiple gunshot wounds about the body. EMS responded and pronounced the victim deceased on scene.”
The official added that no arrests had been made and the investigation remains “ongoing.”

Detectives and police officers had the intersection blocked off by police vehicles and crime scene tape. Because of a severe thunderstorm at the time, police apparently covered the victim and his moped with a large purple tarp, likely in an effort to preserve any evidence.
The victim appeared to be slumped over the moped—with one leg sticking out from the tarp.
The identity of the victim is pending notification of family members.
