BRONX, NY - Police are currently looking for a scooter rider and an SUV driver who each fled the scene in two separate but serious crashes in the borough in less than a week.
At 4:19 p.m. on July 20, officers from the 47th Precinct were called to the scene of “a pedestrian struck” at the intersection of White Plains Road and East Gun Hill Road in the Olinville section of the borough.

Wilmary Carrion, 50, was struck and killed by a scooter rider at White Plains Road and East Gun Hill Road, police continue to search for the scooter rider who fled the scene.
A police official told the Bronx Voice that after a preliminary investigation, the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad, “determined that a 50-year-old female pedestrian was crossing White Plains Road from east to west within a marked crosswalk when she was struck by an unidentified individual operating an electric stand-up scooter.”
The official added that the victim was transported to Jacobi Hospital in critical condition. The scooter rider fled the scene and as of July 30, police had made no arrests in the case, and no description of the rider was available.
The Bronx Voice has since learned that the victim, Wilmary Carrion, 50, succumbed to her injuries on July 24. Carrion worked at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Montefiore Hospital.
As family, friends and co-workers were gathering at a wake for Carrion in Throgs Neck, Montefiore issued a brief statement, saying, “The Montefiore family shares its deepest condolences with the family, friends, and co-workers, and is saddened by the untimely and tragic loss.”
MOTORCYCLIST INJURED ON BRONX RIVER
Meanwhile, police are looking for an SUV driver who collided with a motorcycle rider and then fled the scene, leaving the rider on the ground and backing up traffic for miles, steps away from the Bronx Zoo.
Police were called to the southbound Bronx River Parkway at the Boston Road exit at 11:40 a.m. on July 26.
A police source said, “A 28-year-old male operator of a Yamaha motorcycle collided into the rear of an unknown SUV.” The source added, “The operator of the SUV did not remain on scene.”
The NYPD source maintained that the injured man was transported to a nearby hospital with “minor” injuries and concluded, “There is no suspect description available at this time.”
However, an FDNY official said paramedics were dispatched for a “reported motorcyclist hit by a vehicle at the location” and that the victim was transported to St. Barnabas Hospital with “serious” injuries.
The Bronx Voice reached out to the police source on two additional occasions to clarify the injuries of the motorcycle rider, but the source did not respond. We will continue to follow both investigations .
