NYPD Seeks Public's Help Locating Suspect Wanted in Connection With Non-Fatal Bronx Shooting of 14-Year-Old

BRONX, NY — The NYPD is asking for the public's assistance in locating a man wanted in connection with a non-fatal shooting that left a 14-year-old boy injured in the Bronx.


According to police, the shooting occurred on May 29, at approximately 3:50 p.m., near the intersection of Cruger Avenue and Burke Avenue within the confines of the 47th Precinct.


Investigators say the teenage victim was approached by a suspect identified as Roderick Allen, and the two became involved in a verbal dispute. During the confrontation, Allen allegedly displayed a firearm and fired multiple shots at the victim.


As a result of the incident, the 14-year-old sustained a gunshot wound to his left leg as well as a graze wound to his right leg. 


EMS responded to the scene and transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was reported to be in stable condition.


Police said the suspect fled the area immediately after the shooting. Authorities reported that Allen was last seen running southbound on Cruger Avenue before disappearing into parts unknown.


The NYPD has released a description of the wanted individual as part of its ongoing investigation.



Police identified the suspect as 55-year-old Roderick Allen. At the time he was last seen wearing black shorts, white tank top, black sneakers and a black hat.


Detectives assigned to the 47th Precinct continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Authorities have not yet released additional information regarding what may have led to the dispute.


The incident has raised concerns among residents in the neighborhood, as investigators work to determine the full sequence of events that resulted in a teenager being shot in broad daylight.
