BRONX, NY - A female subway rider was punched in the face once the doors to the train opened, in a shocking random attack.

The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s help after a troubling daytime incident on a Bronx subway train left a senior woman injured.

According to police, the assault happened on May 4, 2026, at around 2:05 pm aboard a northbound Number 6 train at the 138th Street Station.

Authorities say a 66-year-old woman was seated on the train when the doors opened at the station. Without warning, an unidentified individual approached and struck her in the face before quickly fleeing.

The suspect immediately ran off on foot, heading in an unknown direction. The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect.
