BRONX, NY - A Bronx man is recovering after having his skull caved in by a robber who hit him upside the head with a brick to steal a few bucks, cops said.


The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect connected to a violent robbery in the Bronx that left a man hospitalized early Friday morning.


According to police, the incident happened on May 15, 2026, at approximately 3:24 a.m. outside 2514 Barnes Avenue within the confines of the NYPD’s 49th Precinct.


Investigators say a 38-year-old man was approached by an unidentified male suspect who allegedly attacked him with a brick before stealing his wallet. 


Authorities reported that the suspect struck the victim multiple times during the robbery before removing the victim’s wallet from his pants pocket. The wallet reportedly contained approximately $300 in cash.


After the assault and robbery, the suspect fled the scene on foot, traveling northbound along Barnes Avenue before disappearing into the surrounding area, police said.


Emergency medical personnel responded quickly to the scene. The victim was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was listed in stable condition.


Police described the suspect as a male who was last seen wearing a white sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, light-colored sneakers, and carrying a tan book bag.


The NYPD released surveillance images of the individual and is urging anyone with information about the Bronx robbery suspect on Barnes Avenue to come forward.


The violent incident has raised concerns among residents in the neighborhood, particularly as overnight robberies and street assaults in the Bronx continue to impact sections of the borough. Community members in the 49th Precinct are encouraged to remain vigilant and report suspicious activity to authorities.
