BRONX, NY - Cops are looking for a burglar who broke into a Morris Park apartment. And cops released surveillance video which shows the suspect trying to get into the building.

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help in identifying a man wanted in connection to a residential burglary in the Bronx that took place earlier this month within the confines of the 49th Precinct.

According to police, the incident happened on May 1, 2026, at approximately 11:50 a.m., near Tomlinson Avenue and Pierce Avenue in the Bronx. Investigators say the unidentified male suspect forcibly entered an apartment through the front door before stealing several valuable items and fleeing the scene on foot.

Authorities reported that the suspect made off with jewelry, two cellphones, and approximately $400 in cash during the daytime apartment burglary. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.

Cops released surveillance video taken from the lobby of the apartment building showing the suspect. The man wore a surgical mask but had it down not covering his face before he made his way into the building.

Police describe the suspect as a light-complexioned male standing approximately 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing around 190 pounds. The NYPD has released media of the individual and is urging anyone who may recognize him to come forward.

Residents in the area say concerns about property crimes and apartment break-ins in the Bronx have continued to rise, particularly during daytime hours when many tenants are away from home. The latest burglary investigation in the 49th Precinct has renewed conversations about apartment security and neighborhood safety.

The NYPD is continuing its investigation into the Bronx residential burglary and is asking anyone with information regarding the suspect’s identity or whereabouts to contact Crime Stoppers. Tips can be submitted anonymously.

As police work to identify the individual involved, community members are being reminded to secure entryways, report suspicious activity, and remain vigilant throughout the neighborhood.
