Burly Brute Opens Fire During Verbal Dispute

BRONX, NY - Cops are looking for a burly brute who opened fire during a Bronx dispute.
The New York City Police Department is asking for the public’s help identifying a suspect connected to a shooting in the Bronx that left a 32-year-old man hospitalized Friday night.
According to police, the violent incident happened on May 15, 2026, at approximately 9:05 p.m. in front of 268 East 198 Street within the confines of the 52 Precinct in the Bronx section of New York City.
Investigators say the victim became involved in a verbal dispute with an unidentified man before the confrontation escalated into gun violence. Police said the suspect allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the victim once in the chest during the dispute.
After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene southbound on Briggs Avenue and remains at large, according to authorities.
Emergency medical personnel responded quickly and transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/North Central Bronx, where he was listed in stable condition.
The NYPD described the suspect as a male with a medium complexion and a bushy beard. He was last seen wearing a red hooded sweatshirt, blue pants, red sneakers and a blue hat.
The latest shooting adds to ongoing concerns surrounding gun violence in parts of the Bronx, particularly within neighborhoods patrolled by the 52 Precinct. Residents in the area reported hearing gunfire Friday evening as officers quickly secured the crime scene near East 198th Street and Briggs Avenue.
Law enforcement officials are urging anyone who may have witnessed the altercation or who has information about the suspect involved in the Bronx assault and shooting investigation to come forward.
Authorities continue searching for the armed suspect responsible for the Friday night shooting near East 198 Street. Anyone with information regarding the identity or whereabouts of the individual involved is encouraged to contact the New York City Police Department as the investigation remains ongoing.
No arrests have been made at this time.
