BRONX, NY - A dispute over vaping smoke on board a Bronx MTA bus led to a group beat down. The NYPD is looking for four men and one woman in connection with the gang assault on the bus rider

According to authorities, the incident occurred in the early morning hours of April 19, 2026, at approximately 12:20 am near 959 Ogden Avenue. A 19-year-old man was riding a northbound BX13 MTA bus.

Reports indicate that an unidentified individual approached the victim and blew vape smoke directly into his face. What might have started as a minor confrontation quickly spiraled into violence.

Witnesses say the victim was then surrounded by a group of individuals who began punching and kicking him repeatedly. In a shocking turn, the group briefly exited the bus—only to re-enter through the rear doors and continue the assault.

One of the attackers allegedly produced a sharp object and slashed the victim’s left hand before the group fled on foot. Fortunately, the victim sustained only minor injuries and was not hospitalized.

This incident is being investigated as a group assault, and police are actively seeking the individuals involved. The attack has raised concerns about late night public transportation safety in the Bronx NYC, especially on busy routes like the BX13.

Authorities have shared descriptions of the five individuals believed to be involved. The first suspect is described as a male with a medium complexion, who was last seen wearing a black T-shirt, light-colored shorts, a black backpack, and multicolored sneakers.

The second suspect is a male with a dark complexion, wearing a white T-shirt, green shorts, and a black backpack.

The third suspect is a male with a dark complexion, dressed in a black sweater and black pants.

The fourth suspect is a male with a dark complexion, last seen in a black sweater, gray sweatpants, a red backpack, and multicolored sneakers.

The fifth suspect is described as a female with a dark complexion, wearing a black leather jacket and tan clothing.

Police say the suspects fled the scene on foot and have not yet been located. Investigators are working to identify them, and surveillance footage may play a key role.

Incidents like this highlight the importance of vigilance and community cooperation. Public transportation is a lifeline for many New Yorkers, and ensuring rider safety remains a top priority.

This case also underscores a troubling trend of group attacks on NYC public buses involving multiple suspects, which law enforcement continues to monitor closely.
