BRONX, NY - A woman who wore a shirt that read “it was all a dream” turned a Bronx bus driver’s job into a nightmare when she viciously attacked the driver.
The NYPD is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with an assault on MTA bus driver Bronx — an incident that has raised renewed concerns about transit worker safety.
According to police, the assault occurred on the morning of Monday, March 16, 2026, aboard a northbound BX15 MTA bus near Melrose Avenue and East 161 Street in the 42 Precinct.
Authorities say a 56-year-old female MTA bus driver was operating the bus when an unidentified individual began arguing with her. What started as a verbal dispute quickly escalated.
Police report that the suspect kicked the bus driver multiple times about the body, causing minor injuries to her chest and right arm. The incident highlights ongoing concerns surrounding assaults on MTA employees, a growing issue across New York City’s public transit system.
After the attack, the individual exited the BX15 bus and fled the scene on foot. The direction of escape remains unknown, and no arrests have been made at this time.
