Woman Blugeoned on Subway, Cops Looking for Female Attacker

BRONX, NY - A female subway rider was violently bludgeoned by a crazed woman who yelled at her and then hit her repeatedly with an unknown object.
On Thursday, April 9, 2026, at around 12:10 p.m., a 35-year-old woman was riding a southbound Number 5 train when a routine commute turned into a frightening ordeal. According to police, the incident happened at the East 138th Street and Grand Concourse station, a heavily trafficked transit hub during midday hours.
Authorities say an unidentified woman approached the victim and initiated a confrontation. What began as a verbal dispute quickly escalated. During the altercation, the suspect allegedly struck the victim multiple times in the head with what police describe as an unknown blunt object.
Emergency responders arrived quickly at the scene. The victim, who suffered a laceration to the head, was transported by EMS to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. She was listed in stable condition, but the incident has raised concerns about safety across the transit system.
