BRONX, NY - A Bronx bus driver was beaten and menaced with a knife by a group of young masked men in Baychester. Cops are trying to determine a motive for the brutal beating since the attackers did not rob the driver.

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying four individuals wanted in connection with an assault on an MTA bus driver in the Bronx. The incident, which took place earlier this year, left a 49-year-old Metropolitan Transportation Authority employee injured and sparked an ongoing investigation within the city’s transit system.

According to investigators, the incident happened on Monday, February 2, 2026, at approximately 3:40 p.m. The victim, a 49-year-old MTA bus driver, was working aboard a BX38 MTA bus that was stopped in front of 1945 Bartow Avenue in the Bronx when a group of individuals approached him.

Police say the situation quickly escalated.

The group of unidentified suspects reportedly displayed a knife and then punched the bus driver multiple times about the body, causing injuries during the confrontation. Authorities did not indicate whether the suspects attempted to rob the victim or if the attack stemmed from another dispute.

After the assault, the suspects exited the bus and fled the area on foot, heading in an unknown direction. As of now, police say the individuals have not yet been identified, which is why investigators are turning to the public for assistance.

The NYPD released media showing the four individuals wanted in connection with the Bronx MTA bus driver assault, hoping someone recognizes them.

Emergency services responded shortly after the attack. EMS crews transported the injured MTA bus driver to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was treated for his injuries.

Authorities said the victim was listed in stable condition, and he is expected to recover.

The case remains under investigation by officers assigned to the 47th Precinct. Investigators are working to determine the identities of the four individuals involved in the assault on the MTA employee aboard the BX38 bus in the Bronx.

Police are urging anyone who may recognize the suspects or who may have information about the incident to contact authorities.
