According to police, the incident happened around 1:47 a.m. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at the Bruckner Boulevard & Hunts Point Avenue station along the IRT Lexington Avenue Line, which serves the 6 train in the Bronx.

Investigators say a 55-year-old male MTA employee was working in the mezzanine area of the subway station when he was approached by a group of four people.

Police say the encounter quickly escalated.

The group allegedly began arguing with the worker, and the situation turned violent when two male suspects started punching the victim in the face during the dispute. The attack happened inside the station’s mezzanine area before the suspects split up and fled.

Authorities say the two male suspects ran away on foot, heading to unknown locations. Meanwhile, two female suspects boarded a northbound 6 train, leaving the station shortly after the incident.

Emergency medical services responded to the subway station shortly after the assault.

The victim, who officials say is a 55-year-old MTA worker, was treated at the scene for minor injuries. He did not require hospitalization.

Police have not released his name.

The NYPD’s 41st Precinct and Transit District 12 are now working to identify the four individuals involved in the assault. Investigators released clothing descriptions to help the public recognize them.

Police say surveillance images of the individuals were captured and are being circulated as part of the investigation.

The assault remains under investigation by the New York City Police Department, specifically officers assigned to NYPD Transit District 12 and the NYPD 41st Precinct.

Officials are urging anyone who recognizes the suspects or who may have been in the station at the time of the incident to come forward with information.
