BRONX, NY -  A teen is recovering after being shot by a man, cops say, was wearing a track suit covered in flowers. Now the NYPD is hoping the suspected gunman’s loud clothing will lead to his arrest.

A 16-year-old boy was shot in the Bronx last month, and the NYPD is asking the public for help identifying the suspect. The incident, which happened in Soundview on February 27, 2026, has raised renewed concerns about youth safety and street violence in the borough.

According to police reports, the shooting occurred at approximately 10:24 p.m. in front of 1214 Evergreen Avenue. The teenager was running down the street when an unknown gunman fired a shot, striking him in the right buttocks. Emergency medical services rushed the teen to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was treated and listed in stable condition.

The NYPD released a photo of the suspect, who was last seen wearing a black shirt with a white floral pattern and matching black pants, along with a red and black Nike satchel bag. Authorities report that the suspect fled the scene in a vehicle heading toward East 172nd Street.

Police are actively seeking tips from the public and emphasize that anyone with information about the suspect’s identity should contact the 43rd Precinct in the Bronx. The NYPD’s request highlights the importance of community cooperation in solving street-level gun violence.

This shooting adds to a concerning trend of teen victims of gun violence in the Bronx in 2026. Residents in Soundview and nearby neighborhoods have expressed fear over the frequency of such incidents, and community leaders are calling for increased patrols and youth outreach programs.

The NYPD encourages anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the shooting to come forward. Providing tips can help prevent further injuries and ensure the suspect is held accountable.
