The NYPD released new video of four suspects wanted in connection with the shooting. The video shows the four walking on the sidewalk in broad daylight all wearing black winter coats. Two of the suspects wore surgical masks.
However, thanks to good old fashioned police work investigators found video in which all but one of the suspects’ faces are visible. Cops found video of the suspects taken from inside local grocery stores.
Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects. The first suspect is a male who was last seen wearing all black clothing, brown boots, and a blue mask.
The second suspect is a male. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, blues jeans, and white sneakers.
The third suspect is a male who was last seen wearing all black clothing. The final suspect is a female who was last seen wearing a black jacket and blue mask.
According to a police official, the shooting was reported at 5:10 p.m. at the corner of West 238 Street and Broadway. However, police recovered the shell casings further down the street at Petco. Police officers and detectives shut the intersection down and surrounded a backpack left on the sidewalk.
Police identified the victim as Christopher Redding, 16, of Walton Avenue. Friends and family remember Redding as a promising football player at John F. Kennedy High School.
According to police and family members Redding was a Good Samaritan who got caught up in a fight between the wanted crew and a woman inside McDonald’s.
“What we hear is that there was an altercation inside the McDonald’s with one of his female friends and an older lady who had a young child with her,” Redding’s father Bryan Corley told the NY Post. “The lady called the guys. They were antagonizing her. The girl called my son, Christopher. He got over there and separated them.
“As he was walking away with the girl, the kid pulled out a gun and started shooting.”
