Mugger’s Mane Could Lead to Arrest of Attacker in Vicious Beat Down, Cops Say

The NYPD released suveillance video of a suspect in a vicious beating/robbery in Allerton. Cops are hoping the suspect’s distinctive hairstyle will help lead to his arrest via the tipline.
According to police, the incident happened at approximately 2:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, 2026, at the northeast corner of Arnow Avenue and Bronx Park East, a location that sees regular foot traffic even during late-night hours.
Investigators say an unidentified individual approached a 32-year-old man and began punching him in the face multiple times. After the assault, the suspect allegedly stole the victim’s cell phone and AirPods, items police estimate to be worth approximately $1,200.
Following the robbery, the suspect fled the scene on foot, heading northbound on Arnow Avenue, according to the NYPD. No vehicle was involved.
Emergency Medical Services responded quickly and treated the victim at the scene for minor injuries. The victim declined hospital transport, and no life-threatening injuries were reported.
The NYPD has released images of the individual they believe is responsible and is urging anyone who recognizes the suspect or has information about the January 2026 Bronx robbery to come forward.
Police stress that even small details can be helpful as detectives continue to investigate the incident and work to identify the individual involved.
