BRONX, NY - There was high drama at a Bronx laundromat as a shower cap wearing woman came after another customer with a knife, detergent and laundry cart, cops said.

The NYPD is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect wanted in connection with an assault that took place inside a Bronx laundromat earlier this year. Investigators released surveillance video of the suspect from inside the laundromat. In the video the suspect appears to be arguing with another customer.

According to police, the incident occurred Friday, January 23, 2026, at approximately 10:00 a.m., inside a laundromat located at 1395 Nelson Avenue, within the confines of the NYPD’s 44th Precinct.

Investigators say a 38-year-old man became involved in a verbal dispute with an unidentified individual while inside the laundromat. What began as an argument quickly escalated.

Police report that the suspect displayed a knife and then threw detergent bottles and a laundry cart at the victim. The victim was struck in the leg during the confrontation.

Despite the incident, authorities say the victim refused medical attention at the scene.

After the assault, the suspect fled the laundromat on foot, heading southbound on Edward L. Grant Highway, according to NYPD officials.

At this time, the individual has not been identified, and detectives are actively reviewing evidence and tips from the public. The NYPD has released surveillance images in hopes that someone may recognize the suspect.

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who recognizes the individual depicted in the released media to come forward.

Even small details—such as recognizing clothing, physical features, or movements—could help investigators move the case forward.

Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
