Gunman Shoots Through Apartment Door Near Pel Bay Park - Unknown Motive or Target

BRONX, NY - An early morning shooting inside a Bronx apartment building shocked the normally quiet Pelham Bay. The gunman snuck into an apartment building blocks from the Park and fired through a door. 


Police say that on Friday, February 20, 2026, at approximately 2:00 a.m., an unidentified man entered a residential building near Buhre Avenue and Mahan Avenue in the Bronx.





Once inside, the individual allegedly displayed a firearm and discharged it multiple times at a door inside the building. After firing the shots, the suspect fled the location on foot, traveling eastbound on Buhre Avenue.



Thankfully, authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported as a result of the shooting.


The NYPD describes the wanted individual as a male with a dark complexion and medium. He was last seen wearing a red jacket and blue jeans.





Police have released media depicting the individual and are urging anyone who recognizes him to come forward.


Investigators assigned to the 45th Precinct are continuing to review evidence and canvass the area. Incidents involving firearms inside residential buildings are taken extremely seriously due to the potential danger to occupants and neighboring residents.
