BRONX, NY - A routine weekday commute turned deadly Tuesday afternoon when a 41-year-old man was shot and killed on a Bronx subway platform following an argument that escalated into gunfire, according to police and law enforcement sources.

The shooting occurred just before 3 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at the 170th Street subway station serving the B and D lines, within the confines of the NYPD’s 44th Precinct and Transit District 11.

Police said officers responded to a 911 call reporting a man shot inside a Bronx subway station at approximately 2:56 p.m. When officers arrived at the southbound platform at the 170th Street station, they found a 41-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds on a subway platform.

According to authorities and sources familiar with the investigation, the victim was shot once in the thigh and once in the groin. Emergency medical personnel rushed him to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln Medical Center, where he was initially listed in critical condition. Despite lifesaving efforts, the man later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by hospital staff.

Investigators believe the deadly Bronx subway shooting following an argument on a train stemmed from a dispute between the victim and the gunman that began onboard a train and spilled onto the platform moments before shots were fired. What triggered the dispute remains under investigation.

No arrests have been made in connection with the fatal shooting at the 170th Street Bronx subway station, police said. Detectives are continuing to review subway surveillance footage from the Bronx station and train cars as they work to identify the suspect and determine the circumstances that led to the fatal encounter.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending proper notification of family members.

The incident marks yet another violent crime in New York City’s subway system, renewing concerns about subway safety during afternoon commuting hours. Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the shooting at the 170th Street B/D subway station or has information related to the case to come forward.

The investigation remains ongoing.
