BRONX, NY - An argument at a Bronx gas station left a 67-year-old man knocked out cold and left for dead and the suspect and his fairly rare ride now getting plenty of attention.

Police say the assault unfolded on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at approximately 7:50 p.m., in front of a Sunoco gas station at 444 Soundview Avenue.

According to the report, a 67-year-old man became involved in a verbal dispute with an unidentified individual. What started as an argument quickly escalated. The suspect allegedly punched the victim in the face with a closed fist, striking him with enough force to cause him to fall to the ground and lose consciousness.

This gas station assault has raised concerns among residents, particularly because of the severity of the injuries sustained during what began as a verbal altercation.

Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was listed in stable condition.

The case is now being investigated and detectives are working to identify and locate the suspect. The NYPD released surveillance video of the suspect who appears to be arguing with someone off camera.

Authorities report that the unidentified individual fled the scene immediately after the assault. The suspect was last seen leaving southbound on Soundview Avenue in a gray Range Rover SUV.

Police are particularly interested in information related to the vehicle described in this gray Range Rover SUV fleeing southbound on Soundview Avenue after Bronx assault. Surveillance footage from the area is being reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.

The gray Range Rover is seen in the video from the assault. Cops are hoping for a tip since Range Rovers are not a common type of SUV in the Soundview community.

Community cooperation plays a critical role in cases like this. Even seemingly minor details can help investigators move the case forward.
