According to the NYPD, two 15-year-old boys and a 16-year-old boy were taken into custody at approximately 12:00 p.m. on January 22, 2026, following an ongoing investigation by officers assigned to the 47th Precinct. Each suspect has been charged with murder, manslaughter, and four counts of criminal possession of a weapon. Due to their ages, the identities of the suspects were not released.
The arrests stem from a deadly shooting that occurred on January 21, 2026, at approximately 5:39 p.m., in front of 3685 Secor Avenue in the Eastchester section of the Bronx.
Police responding to a 911 call found Jahmir Turner, 19, lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his back, authorities said. EMS rushed Turner to NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi, where he was pronounced dead a short time later.
Turner lived nearby at 3555 Bivona Street, just a five-minute walk from where the shooting occurred.
At the time of the shooting, police said there were no immediate arrests and the investigation remained active. Over the following 24 hours, detectives canvassed the neighborhood, reviewed video surveillance footage, and tracked movements near the scene of the crime.
Sources familiar with the investigation said the three teenagers were identified after video footage placed them in the area around the time Turner was shot. Investigators are continuing to examine a possible gang-related motive, though police emphasized that the exact reason Turner was targeted has not yet been confirmed.
Each of the three suspects faces the same set of charges:
- Murder
- Manslaughter
- Criminal Possession of a Weapon (four counts)
All arrests were made within the confines of the 47th Precinct.
The case comes amid a noticeable uptick in shootings in the 47th Precinct. According to NYPD data, the precinct reported zero homicides year-to-date through January 18, but has already recorded four shootings in early 2026. At the same point last year, only one shooting had been reported.
Community members have expressed concern about the increase in gun violence, particularly incidents involving young suspects and victims.
The suspects are expected to be processed through the juvenile justice system. The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence and clarify the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
