BRONX, NY — Snow on the ground didn’t stop burglars from pulling off a bold daytime break-in at a Bronx home this weekend, according to police.
The NYPD says the burglary happened on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at approximately 4:10 p.m., inside a private residence near East 211 Street and Holland Avenue, within the confines of the 47th Precinct. Despite winter weather conditions, two suspects allegedly forced their way into the home and made off with a safe filled with valuables.
Investigators say the two unidentified individuals entered the home through a rear window, forcibly gaining access before removing a safe containing U.S. currency, jewelry, passports, and business documents. The suspects did not remain on scene long.
After the theft, the pair reportedly fled in a four-door sedan, last seen traveling southbound on the Bronx River Parkway.
Police have not yet released information on whether the homeowners were present at the time of the incident.
Investigators released home surveillance video which shows the thieves struggling through the snow carrying the medium sized safe through the alleyway.
The NYPD is asking for the public’s help identifying the suspects involved in the Bronx safe-stealing burglary.
- Suspect One is described as a male with a medium complexion, approximately 20 to 30 years old, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing a black hoodie and a dark jacket.
- Suspect Two is described as a male with a dark complexion, also approximately 20 to 30 years old, with a medium build. He was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, a gray hoodie, a black jacket, and a green safety vest.
Both suspects remain at large as of this publication.
While snowfall often leads homeowners to believe crime slows down, police say residential burglaries in the Bronx can and do occur year-round, including during winter weather. Authorities remind residents that rear windows and less visible entry points are often targeted.
Law enforcement encourages homeowners to:
- Secure all windows and doors
- Avoid storing passports and sensitive documents in unsecured safes
- Report suspicious activity immediately
The case is currently under investigation by the NYPD 47th Precinct.
