BRONX, NY -
Talk about heartless. Police say two Bronx robbers left a 15-year-old boy shivering in the cold after forcing him to hand over his jacket during a daytime robbery inside Jerome Park earlier this week — and now detectives are asking for the public’s help identifying the suspects.

According to the NYPD, the disturbing incident happened around 1 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28, when the teenage victim was walking through Jerome Park in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx.

Cops say the teen was approached by two men who were bundled up for the cold weather, a detail that makes the crime especially cruel given the freezing temperatures that day.

Investigators say the suspects threatened the boy and forced him to remove his jacket, leaving him exposed to the cold. The two suspects then fled the park on foot toward Morris Avenue, police said.

The victim was not physically injured, but was left shaken — and cold — after the robbery.

As the search continues, police have released surveillance photos of the two suspects involved in the Bronx jacket robbery in hopes that someone recognizes them.

The first suspect is described a male with a dark complexion. He was last seen wearing a blue and black jacket. He also wore a gray hooded sweatshirt, beige camouflage pants and gray sneakers.

The second suspect is described as a male with a light complexion. He was last seen wearing a black jacket and black jeans. He also wore a black face mask and white sneakers.

Police say both men were dressed for cold weather — a sharp contrast to the teen they allegedly left behind without a coat.

While robberies in parks are not uncommon, community members say forcing a teenager to surrender his jacket during winter crosses a line.

Local residents expressed concern about safety in Bronx parks, especially during the afternoon hours when teens are often walking alone after school.
