At around 5:40 pm on November 21, a 42-year-old MTA bus driver was behind the wheel of a BX15 bus. Near the southwest corner of 3rd Avenue and East 163rd Street, the driver picked up a passenger who immediately began arguing with him. The dispute soon got heated and then the rider punched the driver in the face.
After smashing the driver in the face, cops said the attacker hopped off the bus and rode off on a bicycle in an unknown direction.
The bus driver was left with pain and noticeable swelling to his face. EMS responded and brought him to NYC Health + Hospitals/Lincoln, where he was treated and listed in stable condition.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/, on X @

All calls are strictly confidential.
The suspect is described as having a medium complexion and black hair, standing around 5'8" to 5'10" with a medium build, and appearing to be between 25 and 35 years old. At the time of the incident, he was last seen wearing a black jacket with large white “NIKE AIR” lettering across the front, gray gloves, gray pants, and carrying a black over-the-shoulder bag.
This attack comes four days after a similar incident in Queens where a teen attacked a bus driver.
At around 6:30 pm on November 17, cops said the teen got into an argument with the 47-year-old bus driver while the bus was at a stop at 80-00 Cooper Avenue inside a Queens shopping center.
Cops said the arguement turned heated and the teen punched the driver in the face. The teen then jumped off the bus and ran away.
