Rally for 'No Kings' in the Bronx

BRONX - A crowd of 2,000 or more turned out for the "No Kings" rally held at Seaton Park Riverdale on October 18, as similar protests were held at more than 2,500 events around the nation.
The event's organizer at Indivisible has stated on their website, "We are a grassroots movement of thousands of local Indivisible groups with a mission to elect progressive leaders, rebuild our democracy, and defeat the Trump agenda.”
Locally, similar protests were held in Pelham, NY., Yonkers, New Rochelle, Washington Heights in Manhattan and the larger "anchor" rally held Father Duffy Square in Manhattan.
Congressman Ritchie Torres (D-15) told the crowd, "American democracy is on life support and whether we rescue it will depend on whether we fight back, because if we don't fight back no one else will." He added, "It depends on the resistance to Donald Trump.”
Ely, a resident of Kingsbridge who had not attended a protest since he was a college student in 1970, protesting the Vietnam War. He said of the No Kings Rally, “It was wonderful, all kinds of creative signage, lots of people. There were several people wearing costumes." He added, "The spirit in the creativity and the evanescence was definitely there.”
