BRONX - The NYPD is searching for a moped riding thief who robbed a man at gunpoint. Cops arrested the thief’s 14-year-old accomplice who they said opened fire near a Bronx golf course.
At around 2:30 am on October 19, a 25-year-old male was walking in front of 3600 Jerome Avenue, across the street from the Mosholu Golf Course. Two men on an electric moped rode up behind him and pulled a gun on the victim.
The gunman demanded the victim to hand over his cash and property. The victim handed over his jewelry, cell phone and other property. Cops said the items taken are valued at $2,600.
The gunman then opened fire, shooting off several rounds before the thieves rode off. No one was injured.
Cops said an investigation led them to arrest a 14-year-old male as the gunman in the robbery. The suspect, whose name was withheld because he is a minor, was charged with robbery, grand larceny, criminal possession of a weapon, reckless endangerment and menacing.
The NYPD released surveillance video of the moped driver who is still at large. He is described as a male with a medium complexion and heavy build. He was last seen wearing a black puffy jacket with a black hoodie underneath. He rode a red and black moped.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).
